No, the building is not equipped with a sound system. A sound system may be brought in by the renter.

No, the building does not have any audio or video capabilities. A projector screen is mounted on the west wall in both the north and south event spaces. Audio or visual equipment would provided by the renter.

How long after the event will I receive the refund of my security deposit

The timeframe for refunding a security deposit varies depending on the payment method (check or credit card). Allow up to 30 days after the event to receive your refund. The Sugar House Park Authority has three days or 72 hours after your event to notify you if a security deposit will not be returned due to damages or non-compliance with the rental agreement.

Do you rent half days?

Half-day rentals are available Monday through Thursday. The morning rental is 8 am to 4 pm, and the evening rental is 5 pm to 10 pm. Contact us for rental durations of 2-4 hours Monday through Thursday between 8 am to 5 pm. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are rented at full days only.

How late is the building open?

All events must end at 10 pm, per park hours. The renter has from 10 pm to 11 pm to complete the required cleaning protocols per the rental agreement. The building must be vacated of all individuals by 11 pm. Failure to follow building hours is cause for loss of a security deposit.

Can I have music at my event?

Yes, music or sound amplification is allowed. Renters must comply with Salt Lake City's noise ordinance, which prohibits loud noise at night from 10 pm to 7 am and sets limits for extremely loud noise during the day.

Is the building accessible?

The Garden Center has dedicated accessible parking and a ramped entrance. The interior is one level with no other steps or rises.

Can I bring my own furniture (tables and chairs)?

Yes, you are welcome to bring in any additional furniture you want or need for your event. All renter belongings must be removed from the premise before the end of your rental reservation.

No, the Sugar House Garden Center has a recurring renter on Sunday mornings until 1:00 p.m.  Renters can begin setting up at 2 p.m. at the earliest on Sundays.

Yes, renters can use 10 feet of the park space behind the Garden Center building for their event. The building and the outdoor space are part of Sugar House Park, which is a public space open to all users during park hours.

No, setting up tables and chairs (provided or your own) and any other furniture or equipment for your event will be the renter's responsibility.

No, we do not have an hourly rate for evening rentals. The building rates are based on full-day reservations, with rates varying from Monday to Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Garden Center Building is open for reservation to everyone for personal events. Every renter must comply with park rules, follow city ordinances, and adhere to state laws.

The park prohibits consuming alcohol, smoking, vaping, and the use of fireworks, etc.

How big is the venue?

The venue features two large main rooms. 
The north room is 49.5 ft long x 29.5 ft wide
The south room is 42.8 ft long x 28.5 ft wide
A double-sided gas fireplace separates these rooms.

For a sit-down dinner, the maximum is 162-180, depending on your arrangement. For a free-flowing, open-house-style event, it can accommodate up to 300 people.

Are there dressing rooms in the building?

No, there is no dressing room; however, there are restrooms available.

How much is the security deposit and how is it used?

The security deposit is required for all rental types and fully refunded within seven (7) business days of your event if the Rental Agreement is followed and no damage occurs.

Who can I use to cater my event?

You may choose from our vendor list or choose any caterer for your event. The caterer may not come in earlier than your scheduled time.

Can I decorate the building?

Decorations are allowed on and inside the building. The following items cannot be to hang decorations because they cause damage:
Tacks, nails, pins, staples, and/or removable hanging strips

We recommend zip ties, rope, fishing line, or wire. If you plan to use tape, it must be painter's tape.

Open flames, sparklers, and other live-flame products, including fireworks, are not allowed. Alternatives include battery-operated candles or other battery-operated products.

Can I put signs in front of the building?

Signs must be political/yard-sign style or self-standing, like A-frames. No staking in the grass.
